Ms Nora Nugent is a fully accredited plastic surgeon. She is registered on the specialist register in plastic surgery with the General Medical Council (GMC No: 6116591) and the Irish Medical Council (IMC No: 23855). Nora holds the FRCS (Plast) qualification as well as a certificate of completion of specialist training in plastic surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She is certified in all areas of cosmetic surgery under the Royal College of Surgeons of England Cosmetic Surgery Certification Scheme. She is Vice President of the BAAPS (British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons) and Secretary of ESAPS/EASAPS (European Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons/European Association of Societies of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery).
Nora Nugent has a specialist interest in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery particularly of the face and breast but also undertakes body contouring and aesthetic medical treatments.
Nora graduated from medical school at University College Dublin and completed her basic surgical training and specialist training in plastic surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. To further develop her clinical expertise, she then undertook specialist fellowships in North America and Australia. Training in advanced burn critical care and burn surgery (acute and reconstructive) was undertaken during her fellowship at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Galveston, Texas. Prior to taking up her consultant post, Nora obtained additional subspecialty training in Australia completing a plastic surgery fellowship at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. This encompassed both reconstructive surgery (including microsurgery) and all areas of aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery. Finally she completed a hand surgery fellowship with Victorian Hand Surgery Associates, Melbourne. On returning from Australia, she took up a consultant post with the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead.
Purity Bridge (where Ms Nugent’s practice is based) is a recognised BAAPS Host Centre for the BAAPS Aesthetic Mentorship Scheme which trains and mentors senior plastic surgery trainees in aesthetic surgery. Ms Nugent is also on faculty for the UCL MSc in Aesthetic Surgery and the Professional Behaviours in Aesthetic Surgery Masterclass run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England and part of the requirement for Cosmetic Surgery Certification. She has recently joined the European faculty for Mentor (J & J) to provide aesthetic breast surgery education and consultancy work.
Ms Nugent was the Surgical Tutor for Plastic Surgery in Queen Victoria Hospital and the Programme Director for Core Surgical Trainees from 2013 to 2018. She is a trained Educational and Clinical Supervisor with KSS Deanery for plastic surgery trainees and is involved in teaching and clinical training of plastic surgery trainees.
Nora is regularly invited to lecture at national and international plastic surgery conferences on her areas of expertise. She is a Contributing Editor for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum, an International Editorial Board Member for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal and reviews journal articles for the Aesthetic Surgery Journal and the Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery amongst others.
Nora has published clinical studies in several national and international medical journals and has presented her work to plastic surgery professional meetings. She has co-authored a number of book chapters in her areas of clinical specialisation. She has published plastic surgery topics for the online learning tool e-LPRAS. She has been a research supervisor for medical students in Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
