Inverted Nipple Correction
in Tunbridge Wells, Kent
What is inverted nipple correction?
Nipple inversion correction is surgery (usually) to lift out and hold out a nipple that tends to fall inwards or invert.
Who is suitable for inverted nipple correction?
If you are concerned by having inverted nipples, you may be suitable for a nipple inversion correction.
Caution!
If you are soon after pregnancy or still breast feeding or plan to have more children in the future, it may not be the right time to have a inverted nipple surgery. If you smoke or have significant health problems, this will need to be assessed and you may be advised to wait or not to have inverted nipple correction surgery. If your nipple inversion is new and has other symptoms such as bleeding, pain, discharge or a lump, this may need to be looked into first before any nipple inversion surgery is carried out.
The procedure
There are variations depending on your individual anatomy and goals. The standard surgery is done under local anaesthetic. Skin incisions are made at the base of your nipple to allow a nice reshaping and lift of your nipple. Your nipple is then lifted out and secured in the new position. Stitches are usually absorbable.

The Difference Expertise Makes
Combination surgery
Inverted nipple correction can be done on its own or in combination with other procedures. Common combinations include breast augmentation and other breast procedures.
Duration of surgery
0.5 to 1 hour depending on the extent of surgery. If other procedures are planned at the same time, the overall surgery time is longer.
After surgery
You will have a ‘dough-nut’ style dressing on your nipples for 4 weeks. Nipple inversion surgery is an outpatient procedure. You can shower with care after 48 hours but must keep the dressings dry and in place.
Recovery
On average up to 1 week off work may be needed. No heavy lifting or strenuous activity is allowed for 6 weeks. Some forms of exercise can be restarted at 4 weeks. Most exercise is restarted at 6 weeks. Driving is not allowed until you are safe to perform an emergency stop.
