Ms Nugent has continued her membership of The Beauty Triangle for another year. The Beauty Triangle was founded by Francesca White, Health & Beauty Editor-At-Large for Tatler. It is an exclusive community of plastic surgeons and aesthetic doctors brought together with the purpose of education and conversation about aesthetics, beauty and wellness. The ‘triangle’ relates to the holistic approach to events and topics where three practitioners from different specialities come together to offer their unique perspectives and expertise to allow a comprehensive discussion.
Look out for Ms Nugent’s events throughout the year with The Beauty Triangle! These will include in-person events where you can meet Nora, webinars and Instagram Lives. We will be posting about upcoming events on this website and on our Instagram (@noranugent and @aislingplasticsurgery) and other social media accounts. You can catch snippets of previous events in the IGTV section of @the_beauty_triangle on Instagram. Scroll down to see what Ms Nugent says about breast surgery, labiaplasty, liposuction, mummy make-overs and many other topics! Events are open to all who are interested in aesthetics, beauty and wellness.
We will be adding more videos on different aesthetic (cosmetic) topics throughout the year to our website, Instagram accounts and YouTube channel (Nora Nugent) as well. Please let us know if there are any plastic surgery topics that you would like to hear about. We will be covering preparing for surgery, different types of aesthetic surgery, recovery after surgery, non-surgical facial treatments and steps to take if you are considering aesthetic surgery. There are already some videos on the procedure pages of the website and on our YouTube channel that you may find helpful to watch if you are considering aesthetic treatments.
As always, please get in touch if we can help you further and if you would like to see Ms Nugent for a consultation to see what is best for you and your individual situation. We would love to hear from you!
Sadly we have had to postpone some surgeries recently as patients had not returned from overseas travel with sufficient time allowed before their surgery dates to complete UK government quarantine and self-isolation requirements in advance of their preassessment and surgery.
If you have surgery planned with us over the summer and also have travel plans, please allow enough time before your surgery so that this does not happen to you. If your procedure is planned to take place under general anaesthetic or with sedation, you will need to plan for a preassessment appointment within the two weeks before your surgery date as well. This is to ensure that you are prepared properly for your anaesthetic and surgery and that any tests needed such as blood tests, COVID tests or ECG cardiac readings can be carried out in time. Please also be aware that post travel quarantine requirements can change at short notice and catch you out if you have planned very tight timelines around travel and surgery.
We hate postponing surgery and only do so if we really have to. We know how much your surgery means to you and how you plan your time around a planned surgery date and recovery BUT we must follow government regulations, Public Health England COVID-19 and travel advice and surgery safety precautions.
We share your frustration with the current travel restrictions and fully understand why you might wish or need to travel for business or family reasons or to enjoy a much needed summer break. But please help us to plan your surgery with you safely and in a way that will allow it to proceed without problems or stress for you.
If you are likely to be affected by this, please contact our office on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01892 619248 so that we are aware and can forward plan with you for a solution.
Cosmetic surgery certification is coming in for UK and Irish surgeons under the oversight of the four royal colleges of surgery. Nora Nugent is certified in all areas of cosmetic surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons in England. Specialist registration (in plastic surgery), qualifications (in plastic surgery), experience (in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery), annual appraisal (annual review of clinical practice, continuing professional and personal development and education, colleague and patient feedback), medical indemnity (insurance) cover and professionalism are all evaluated to achieve certification. While certification in cosmetic surgery is not a mandatory requirement in the UK, this is an additional reassurance for her patients of Nora’s credentials as a plastic surgeon and her experience in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery.
Only plastic surgeons can be evaluated for certification in all areas of cosmetic surgery as only plastic surgery training and clinical experience covers the full breath of aesthetic surgery (all areas of facial, breast and body surgery). Other specialities are eligible for certification in specific areas e.g. ENT or maxillofacial surgeons in facial, nasal, ear and/or eye surgery, breast surgeons in breast surgery and ophthalmic surgeons in oculoplastic surgery. Only specialist registered surgeons in these relevant specialties are eligible to certify in the Cosmetic Surgery Certification scheme.
Nora’s practice was evaluated for her qualifications and experience in facial, periorbital, ear, nose, breast and body contouring including after massive weight loss cosmetic surgery. Professional behaviour which is an intrinsic part of good medical practice was also evaluated as part of the certification requirements. Nora is amongst the first plastic surgeons in the UK to complete the full certification process.
Nora was also invited by the Royal College of Surgeons along with some of her colleagues to help develop part of the Professional Behaviours Masterclass that is linked to the certification process and is now a member of faculty for this Masterclass. BAAPS and BAPRAS, the two main professional associations for plastic surgeons in the UK, have both been involved in Cosmetic Surgery Interspecialty Committee that developed the Certification in Cosmetic Surgery scheme.

Breast augmentation using silicone breast implants is consistently one of the most popular cosmetic procedures with year on year rises in the number of women undergoing the procedure. Recently there has been several media articles regarding the long term safety of breast implants, in particular relating to Breast Implant Associated – Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL) and Breast Implant Illness (BII). While both conditions need to be taken seriously and more research is needed to fully understand both, overall most women have a safe and positive experience following breast augmentation surgery.
However for those affected by these conditions or any other problem with their implants, it is so important that they are able to return to their plastic surgeons or if this is not possible, to be seen by another plastic surgeon to have their concerns discussed and assessed. Just as it is reasonable to consider a breast augmentation surgery, it is also very reasonable to have breast implants removed if you no longer wish to have them or they are causing problems. In light of recent articles on BII and BIA-ALCL, the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons have made available information leaflets on BII and BIA-ALCL for patients. I thought it would be helpful for my patients or any other women who are concerned about their implants to link to these leaflets from my website for you. I hope you find them useful.
I have also included a link to the Breast and Cosmetic Implant Registry (BCIR) as this body was purposely set up to collect data and monitor trends and complications relating to breast implants. Along with the MHRA, important safety information is being collected by the BCIR about breast implants.
